Bard Challenge 8/05/08 - The Skylord

Well, you all know what time is. Time for another Bard Challenge. This hero comes from the Book of Exalted Deeds. Enjoy!


An Elf crusader, the Skylord uses his kinship with creature os the sky and the power of the winds to fight evil. His ties with the elven community are usually loose at best, since he sees much more urgency in the day-to-day events of the world. This point of view is ofen lost on the elven lord who would prefer to insulate themselves from the affairs of the short-lived races.
Soaring above the world of men, the Skylord observes all. From such a vantage point the Skylord learns to appreciate the beauty of the world below, ply the winds, and use the rage of storms to his advantage. He can quickly dissapear by clocking himself in clouds to avoid his foes. During a battle, his presence inspires confidence in all airborne allies who fight at his side.
The Skylord often acts as an aerial scout, watching the movements of evil armies and studying areas not easily reached by land. He is also a courier, conveying messages across great distances much faster than would otherwise be possible without the use of magic. The Skylord truely shines when evil bears its ugly head in the sky.

S'all good. The last one didn't get the biggest turn out. I'm hoping the Skylord will do better.

@DragonLord1: Don't bother huntin' for a hardback copy. 4th Edition coming out, it'll be a bit hard to find. Just go with a torrent.

Lord Efni became a member of the skylords soon after his corination.Leading groups from the skies in powerful attack formations,and then moveing to quickly for retalliation,Lord Efni used his fabled Sky Lance to dispose of opponents,and used his powers when in dire need.



Aerial Attack (R)
Launching into the sky,Lord Efni calls to him birds of pray.Spending only a little time,he gathers enough to take care of an area of opponents easily.Lasts 5 seconds.400 aoe from targeted area.300 reach.
Level 1 - Base Damage:50.Bonus per second:25
Level 2 - Base Damage:75.Bonus per second:25
Level 3 - Base Damage:75.Bonus per second:50
Level 4 - Base Damage:100.Bonus per second:50
Somewhat of a nukeing skill.
Mana Cost:125/150/175/200
Cooldown: 25/30/35/40
Framework: Lord Efni leaps into the air,dissapering from view.When he strikes after 5 seconds he has 5 hawks with him.
Notes: Great for group battles.When in the air,can only be targeted as air.



Sky Lance (E)
A powerful lance used by the skylords.This lance was forged deep below,granting Lord Efni powers over the element of wind.Adds damage and a chance to cast wind funnel.Wind Funnel:Shoots out a wind beam in a line of 300 ranage.Deals 10/20/30/40 pure damage to anything it hits.
Level 1 - Adds 2 bonus damage.5% chance for Wind Funnel
Level 2 - Adds 4 bonus damage.10% chance for Wind Funnel
Level 3 - Adds 6 bonus damage.15% chance for Wind Funnel
Level 4 - Adds 8 bonus damage.20% chance for Wind Funnel.
Orb Effect
Mana Cost:N/A
Cooldown: N/A
Framework: Lance glows a bright white.When Wind funnel is struck,a small tornado issues forth 400 range,
Notes: Good against tanks.


Necklace of a Skylord (N)
Lord Efni wears the neckalce of a skylord.While wearing this necklace he may take flight for a few seconds to reach places on reachable on ground.When he lands the resulting shockwave stuns opponents for 1.25 seconds and deals damage.
Leap like ability.Damage is 450 AOE
Level 1 - Flys 400 feet.Upon landing deals 50 damage.
Level 2 - Flys 500 feet.Upon landing deals 100 damage.
Level 3 - Flys 600 feet.Upon landing deals 150 damage.
Level 4 - Flys 700 feet.Upon landing deals 200 damage.
Leap skill
Mana Cost:75
Cooldown: 40/35/30/25
Framework:When leaping,to transparent white wings appear on Efni.
Notes: Good for ganking.Also stops channels.


Dragon Tame (D)
Using powerful arcane abilities granted to him as a child,Lord Efni tames a powerful green dragon.Grants bonus hp,and damage as well as an aura.Also allows Lord Efni flight.Dragons Fear:Targets within a 300/400/500 AOE are stunned for 1/1.25/1.5 seconds in total fear.May only be effected once.
Level 1 - Gains 300 bonus hitpoints,and 4 bonus damage.Dragons Fear I
Level 2 - Gains 350 bonus hitpoints,and 6 bonus damage.Dragons Fear II
Level 3 - Gains 400 bonus hitpoints,and 8 bonus damage.Dragons Fear III
Tank maker
Mana Cost:150/200/250
Cooldown: N/A
Framework:Lord Efni begins to ride a green dragon.
Notes: Great when fighting multi tanks.LAsts indefenetly.

Not bad, but you're forgetting something. He's a SKYLORD... Only one of your skills even fits the theme. Also, Land dragon? Please change it up a bit. Alright?

mmm i am using the dragon lancer as a model.

anyway brief outline of skills.

cloud cover - becomes invisible and can fly over trees for short period of time.

call drakes - quas wex exort approach, can summon 1/1/2/3 drakes with different abilities.
lasts until killed, will use cloud cover if you do.
maximum of 2/2/4/6 drakes.

Outpost - creates a flying outpost at target location. it is invisible. maximum of 2/3/4/6 outposts.
outposts have 120 mana and 4 modes
default - observer (observer ward effect)
anti invisible - sentry ward effect
heal - heals life of all units each second
mana - replenishes mana each second


Ultimate - Hurricane
aoe slow (inside)
small pull (from outside) (escapable)
12 flying bits of debris inside.
each bit of debris can hit 2 units before expiring.

lasts 15 seconds.


anyway thats the quick outline.
busy with balance fixes on drakes, duration of cloud cover and auras of outpost.

Eyes of the Eagle
Shalis' eyes are sharp and her aim is unquestionable. Something her foes find out the hard way.

[1] 10% chance to deal x1.5 DMG. Negates enemy evasion for 10 Seconds.
[2] 15% chance to deal x1.5 DMG. Negates enemy evasion for 10 Seconds.
[3] 10% chance to deal x2.0 DMG. Negates enemy evasion for 10 Seconds.
[4] 15% chance to deal x2.0 DMG. Negates enemy evasion for 10 Seconds.

Note: The Critical Strike is passive. The Evasion Negation is not. Chance for crit increases by 5% while riding Stormbeak.

Call Hippogryph
Shalis' Hippogryph Stormbeak is special to her. She raised him from when he was first hatched. Because of this, Stormbeak is extremely loyal to Shalis and is willing to fight for her no matter what.

[1] Stormbeak Has 750 HP, 2 armor, MS 320. Deals 40-53 damage Has Empathic Link, and Mount.
[2] Stormbeak Has 1200 HP, 3 armor, MS 320. Deals 49-62 damage Has Empathic Link, Mount, and Animal War Training.
[3] Stormbeak Has 1650 HP, 4 armor, MS 320. Deals 58-71 damage. Has Empathic Link, Mount, Animal War Training and Endurance.
[4] Stormbeak Has 2100 HP, 5 armor, MS 320. Deals 67-80 damage. Has Empathic Link, Mount, Animal War Training, Endurance. and Deadly Charge

Empathic Link: When Shalis' health falls below 50% Stormbeak gains 10% ASPD, MS and DMG. Lasts until Shalis' health gets above 50%. Will not activate when carring Shalis
Animal War Training: Gives Stormbeak 15% chance to dodge attacks. This passes in to Shalis when she is riding him.
Endurance: Increases Stormbeak's health regen by 3.
Deadly Charge: Swoops down on a group of enemies, dealing 200 Damage and maiming them for 5 seconds. Cannot be used while Shalis is riding.
Cooldown: 30
Mount: Allows Shalis to ride Stormbeak. Shalis gains 100 Range, 40 damage and Stormbeak's MS.

Manacost: 250


Ride the Wind
Shalis has the ability to command the wind with great ease. This allows her to increse her speed, as well as hurt her foes.

[1] Increases Speed while Riding Stormbeak by 10. Deals 100 Damage and knocks enemies back by 300.
[2] Increases Speed while Riding Stormbeak by 25. Deals 130 Damage and knocks enemies back by 450.
[3] Increases Speed while Riding Stormbeak by 40. Deals 160 Damage and knocks enemies back by 600.
[4] Increases Speed while Riding Stormbeak by 65. Deals 190 Damage and knocks enemies back by 750.

Note: Speed Increase passive. Damage isn't.

Summon Maelstrom
Channeling all her magic, Shalis calls forth a massive cyclone. The power of whirlwind draws people in like vacuum and deals damage depending on how heavy they are.

[1] Deals damage per second to enemies equal to x20 thier armor. Deals double damage if they reach the center of the Maelstrom. Maelstrom lasts 5 seconds.
[2] Deals damage per second to enemies equal to x25 thier armor. Deals double damage if they reach the center of the Maelstrom. Maelstrom lasts 6 seconds.
[3] Deals damage per second to enemies equal to x30 thier armor. Deals double damage if they reach the center of the Maelstrom. Maelstrom lasts 7 seconds.
[4] (/w scepter) Deals damage per second to enemies equal to x35 thier armor. Deals double damage if they reach the center of the Maelstrom. Maelstrom lasts 8 seconds.
