WHY R DOTA PLAYERS SO UNIMAGINATIVE?

@pencilpusher I'm really curious how you play mortred, because it would be really hard to make her into a support hero

LOL @ KotL build!
I agree whole heartedly! Dota is a massive group of pleople (30% new players, 60% experienced NoobSayers, and 10% Stong Silent Types that finish in the top 3 every game and only talk shit if you provoke them)

DOTA is a very situacional game. You can make a few varied ITENS for a specific hero , but it depends a lot on basically 3 thing ( at least that i can recall right now).

1) Your specif strengh
2) The heroes on your Team
3) The heroes on the other Team

Based on that, you can build your character the way it will suit better for the game ( that means you and your team).

In your specific case, there was also Lion and Lich in your team, wich should have played more of a supporter role ( at least the Lich), and you also had Mirana and Luna for the DPS , so your role should be exactly that of a BB: TANKER, not try to make to many things out of the box.

However, in a game say like AS ( all strengh) It would be no problem at all for you as a BB to have a mekans , a guinzo, an euls , or whatever.

So all in all is just like I said, you can be imaginative , but only when you really need to be.

well, i wasn't planning on getting orchid, just the obliv, cause in late the stats go a long way in providing a decent manapool

and i think bloodstone gives too much mana pool for the modest needs of this guy, maybe a linken for spells, but if u go that extra mile for mana you might just as well screw it, and go all-out caster with adagon, lol
alternative to oblivion is arcane, wich can be considered further support for your allies, and it costs about just as much as oblivion staff

EDIT: i suck with mortred cause of my last hitting dificulty, but i play her pretty much classical

these pub lich and lion were nowhere near ready to play support, and i just delayed my tanking, cause with the 3rd skill and vanguard and mek i would have been a decent tank

i love getting orchid so the oblivion staff is fine, only if you upgrade it.

Also, mekansm with very minor mana boost is very bad.

Anyway, BB has realy high damge AOE, not minor at all.

Hmmm.... I think u did nthing wrong... Ur team has already lots of killer and harasser, so i think its rite that u support them, and lion and lich has quite a low hp, so i think its rite for u to be a supporter.... Weird....

try this.
at lvl 1 get 1 stout shield 3 iron wood.
then go and farm.
reaching lvl 2.
get 1 bristle back
1 the one with burst.
tower dive your two enemies and get double kill in exchange for your life.

@ pencil, actually i get very excited when I see someone going for a new build on heroes (I mean someone who knows what he is doing) but the backdraw on this build is that I dont think he would have enough mana to support it.

Well I have a build (that i, in my very basic imagination) think is creative for storm. How about PT, MoM, and 4 orchids?? scary attack speed and dps... i tried it once and was fun (but we were owning anyway so i dont know how it would be in a serious game)

well, glad to hear that

1. mana sufficed
2. for storm i rush BF (cause it is cheap and gives good mana regen)
and then went for orchid.
i never had to turn off his first skill once:D DPS monster

I like to get Orchid, Shiva, then EoS on my Storm. Shield up, lightning into the middle cast shiva and orchid then blast away. It works like a charm, super slow!

BF? like battlefury? you won't get the cleave so I would just get Persaverance and then go for a better dmg item like Orchid, Orchid is made for int dps heroes, everything it gives benefits them

yeah, but am i the only one that thinks that 65 dmg, 150% mana reg and 6 HP/sec regen is a bargain for only 4200 gold?

think about it, on ontel heroes, the mana regen works much better than on str types, also, the 6 hp/sec eliminates the need for other life regeneration items.


just today i rushed BF on QoP, i kindof diesd @ the begining until mid game (mostly cause of techies mines), but after BF, 2x bracer, treads i went for desolator, powerhouse late-game damage, i would just rape heroes like bane with dagon and hex. but my damage build makes your hero fragile, so you need a good reliable tank in your team, also BF is much easyer to rush than let's say orchid or hex
