Lookin for some help w/ Photoshop

I know in photoshop there is an effect / tool that can make things look like they are a light / make things glow. I'm not sure what it's called or how to do it. Can anyone fill me in?

Also I was wondering if there is a good place to go to get stamps / brushes / textures / etc for photoshop?

Lastly, anyone know of a good place to go for some tutorials for an intermediate user?

It is called hte paintbrush, use white as the color.

Yea, deviantart is the best place to get those. Dafont.com is good for fonts.

And for light effects I just get a huge soft brush white in color, lower the opacity and dab on the top. Though, there are other lighting effects available in the little 'f' in the bottom right side.

I was wondering if anyone knows how to save an image and make it like this:

I can only get images to save as rectangles. Even if I leave the background blank and I save them as a JPEG, it fills the blank space with white...

How can I get it to just save the area that isnt blank like the above image?

You have to save it as a .png (the same format used for renders)

This saves the image only and not a white backing
