Basic game tactics.

what some people have to know iswhen to retreat if ur at 1/2 hp u can stay on a lane and heal naturally but people dont realize that if ur just a little bit 2 far ahead if the enemys skills have alll cooled down they can run up and straight up nuke you and w/ 1/2 hp and if u are all alone in a lane and a decent amount of hp is gone ur the bullseye in a target for a gank retreat there is no shame in it its great since ull be mia and ur opponent might be afraid to push since ur mia and they might overpush so u can come and kill him right next to ur tower. i see many people travel to the ends of the earth to get a kill its stupid, ull be killed and thn ull lose some of ur hard earned gold and if u do get the kill great +250 gold o wait u just died -350 back to square 1 the game isnt about getting kills its about destroying the Ancient [throne/tree] i once saw a team who went 0-12 win a game by strategically taking out towers and working together they would all defend together with scrolls and BoT and eventually they farmed gold and wore down thier opponents. Support heros to find a good player to use a support hero is really hard thier job is to back up the other players so what if thier 0-3 hey thy prevented the team from being 5-20. if ur having trouble beating an enemy hero with ur favorite hero play a game with 1 of ur friends and use the hero u cant beat against ur favorite hero play a few times and ull be able to think ur enemys mindset and know the tactics that hero uses and what areas u need to work on with ur hero to be able to beat himand also in a game that u lost and u want to be able to beat ur opponent using thier hero save the replay football teams watch film and see the tactics thier opponnts use so u have an advtg over them knowing how thy play the game. more mportantly than knowing ur opponents know ur own hero u cant play the game if ur clueless on wat to do w/ ur hero. so 1) retreat its a good idea 2) dont chase kills mindlessly its not worth it 3)know ur enemy 4) know YOUR! hero o and lastly dont overlook the basic recipes like bracers nulls ect. thier quite usefull everything builds on fundamentals dont tech level 4 recipes straight up its a bad idea.

just new in here paps..

BASIC GAME TACTICS...

first and foremost everybody should practice and increase their skill in creep killing and denying(it's the best and always come in handy)

next thing avoid being damaged to much if your melee hero and fighting against a range hero it's better to stay behind ur creeps and try to kill a creep or 2..deny if you can..

experience also is an edge for basic games it's the players experience that do most in games not the item nor the hero or skills sometimes the way you execute things are the best..

never be greedy it is never greediness is next to godliness...

you can always run or stun your pursuing enemies if it's only 1 but if they gank you better run run run barbie run..

hmmm..i guess that's it^^

The difference in the gold isn't that big but the effects are more important...Sentry reveal invis for 2 mins...Observer Don't have true sight and stay for 8 minutes

Nice tips all of you gave here. I do agree that Vanguard is indeed a great item, furthermore its not really that expensive.But i would like to post my item build that helps stats IN THE VERY BEGINNING, so can anyone here please correct me, i really need it if possible. My strategy is based on what type of hero:
STR hero: Bracer
AGI hero: Power Treads
INT hero: Null talisman

I think Wraith Band is quite a good alternative to a starting item too.

IMHO, Vanguard is a really good item. It is also advisable to buy bracers (strength), wraith bands (agi), or a basilius ring (int) at the beginning of a game. And you can fill up the rest of your slots with ironwood branches, or tango.

Deny:
killing own creeps to prevent enemies hero gain experience n gold

last hit:
killing oppenent creeps by last hit(when tat creep is in red colour life bar) to gain exp. n gold

hero knowledge:
understanding abt the hero tat use(skill,positive,negative n item build)

standing position:
stand on the profiting position before to take next action

take attention to the minimap:
to beware enemies hero to sneak attack u n can HUNT FOR FOOD

and remember...DONT BE GREED!!!!!

please help me

hi there i am playing dota for some time. since afterschool, this is my past time, i just wanted to get my money's worth by winning games. at least my money's worth for the win. but i have questions on how to put my opponent in his worst:

1. when is the best time to deny an opponent's creep? say this ih his life. 111111111. ten bars. on what bar will i hit it so i can have a successful 1 hit deny?

2. when i deny my opponent's creep, i am wasting my opportunity to earn my own gold. true or false. why true and why false?

3. during my levels 1-5, i am easily bullied by them resulting to frequent returning to my base's fountain. i often use low hp heroes like krobelus, lina, luna, balanar, troll, venomancer, ursa. and they can easily kill me during those times when i use centaur.

i usually start the game with boots of speed and a stout shield.

corrections please...

4. when we play ar, if i don't know my hero, i will 100% lose the match even my opponent/s doesn't know his' too.

5. kindly suggest good item combinations for luna, balanar, troll, ursa and venomancer.

6. my worst experience. my opponents are all aggressive types. so they often attack me and bully me resulting to frequent returning to base. i am not that greedy and i always attack and finish the creeps first.

anybody please help me... you guys are all better than me so i wanted your help. i wanted to be like you someday and bully those monsters...

ps. even with a strong hero, i tend to become a supportive one and i often wear defensive gears and self hp/mana boosters like vanguard, bloodstone, hood of defiance. that is why i always buy first stout shield or ring of regeneration. i always die though during war but pushing a tower, it seems that they have trouble on me about that. they can't stop me from having my money from that tower.

yeah,but i'm still a noob,how to denying if u are a range hero and your enemy is meele.you know the damage of the range hero is smaller than meele so at early game if u 're gonna denying it's truly hard coz when your creep's life is red,you need more than 2 times to kill it,but the meele hero ex:SK(skeleton king) can kill it with one shot.Any idea to deny/farm with Range hero?(at early game)

come to think of it how did he/she become team leader in the first place?
