One thing that really cheeses me off about Dota players...

... is the way some of them mispronounce "Power Treads" as "Power Threads" . THREADSWTF?! That doesn't even make any sense! Where did the extra H come from? Why threads?! Are you thinking of pursuing a career as a seamstress so that you need some POWERFUL THREADS that don't snap?!

Get it right.

It's treads .

TREADS .

I've also heard some people, when talking about it: "Helm of the Denominator ". As opposed to a Helm of the Numerator, I suppose. You'll know which item to use if a nasty fraction comes along.

Also, "Dissembler". No, that's not wrong, right? Well, it is if you tell someone to "use meat hook and then dissembler them."

There are lots more where these came from, and THEY ALL BOTHER ME.

That said, ^_^.

Mrs. Beneprop (GET IT?!)

Not another rant thread. I'd expect this thread to be locked soon.

I hate wrong grammar, it reminds me of the b*tch of a teacher I had. So if you don't want to remind me of that b*tch of a teacher, take grammar lessons.

Sometimes, it's a typo, but in other cases, they really think it's how it's spelled. When they do this, don't mind it but since you're cheesed off, you should tell them how it's really pronounced in a non-provocative way.

It's the same in my local net cafe, a lot of them used to call it Maelstorm. Then I told them, it's Maelstrom, not Maelstorm, look at it carefully, I know it's confusing.

Eventually, hey, they all started calling it Maelstrom but since this is the web, you're going to have to deal with it, or correct them. I suggest the latter, though.

The default state of the internet is " broken " and any attempts to rectify this situation are entirely futile. Sad but true. ;_;

I tried to bash the habit out of my little cousin, but his reaction was something like "ah whatever, you understand me, right?" =_=;

IIRC someone(I think it was Ghost) already made a thread addressing the issue of misspellings of terms in DotA.

No offense, but stop trying to change the world.

It's odd how people opt to say "no offense" rather than simply refraining from giving offense. ^_^;;
I don't recall this thread, but maybe it was before my time. I suppose most people don't feel as strongly about this as I do. v_v; Malapropisms are evil, and DOTA players seem particularly prone to them, probably because the majority of them are middle school students/ESL and there are just way too many polysyllabic/uncommon words in there. XD

Although I really don't think "treads" is that difficult a word.

Ok what is the use of this?? I'm just curious because it doesn't really matter because TREADS is a DoTA term which in fact could be really RELATED with the word threads which could be threads in a forum OR threads meaning some kind of string!!!!!

Hahaha... You are so right!

But the thing is, most of the players dont know how to speak/write decent english without litttle mistakes like that Very Happy
Maybe you should establish language courses Smile

Afterall thats very little compared to other things...

Uh... Treads is an actual word. And it doesn't mean Threads. ^_^;; Or string, or rope, or any variants thereof. >_<

Out of a vague, masochistic curiosity, I'm just curious to know everybody's reading habits? How often do you read a book, or just a newspaper?

edit: I'd just like to note that you are automatically excluded from any criticism if English is your second language. ^u^;;
