Being a professional DOTA player

Posted: Wed Apr 04, 2007 1:08 pm

Hello all DOTA players out there.

How can you identify or maybe consider that
the person you are playing with either in GG or
Battle.Net is a pro?

Or,

How can one be a pro player?

Can you please sight some examples like:

1. About his gameplay?
2. Strategy?
3. Item build?
4. Others? like joining a competition . . . etc?

Because, all players can simply consider himself a pro
if he likes right?

How can one prove himself that he is a pro?
I'm sure it's not just only by winning all the time.

Can you please give me an idea?

Proving A Certain Someone Is " PRO " Is Simple

1 . ) Gameplay :
Knows How To Farm ( FnD ( Farm 'n' Deny ) ) , Watches The Map Carefully , Getting Kills even if you are Very Good And High HP ( Kill Steals Not Counted ) , Plants Wards , Thinks before he Acts.
2 . ) Strategy :
He Would Sometimes Counter The Heroes , Use Anti - Synergy Heroes or Even Maybe Sure Win Heroes ( *cough*viper*cough*sven*sneeze* ) He Would Cooperate With Team mates Carefully and Actively Not Like A Greedy B****** that Only wants to farm and Kill Steal

3. ) Item Build :
He Would Think of The Enemies And Choose Items Carefully Unlike Regular Builds for a Certain Character.

4. ) Others :
Won A Tornament ( Team ) Because of Him , Doing , Cooperating Actively in the Game Always.

To Prove to Be A Pro Is By : LEARNING FROM YOUR LOSES , REMEMBER THIS ALWAYS , YOU MIGHT ALWAYS LOSE , AT LEAST YOU LEARNT A THING OR TWO FROM THOSE LOSES

Hope That Helped ^^

Regards ,
Silent
FUTURE MOD , I HOPE , I HOPE !!! Laughing

IMHO, a pro is those who really understand a game is a game. He must be a able to control his behaviour in a game. He must have understood and accepted that in one game, there are WIN and LOSE. He must have realized that win or loss IS TEAM'S not him self and it completely affect all the game play. Then, kills number, score, etc. won't be bothered. Just ENJOY ! And 1 thing: A PRO DOESN'T and will NEVER call him self a Pro. Instead, the game he plays will prove and others will admit it WITHOUT his confession of being a 'pro'. || FFD. ||

I agree with FFD...

A 'true' pro never calls himself a pro....

He understands teh game iz juzt a game...

And, a PRO NEVER FLAMES IN DEFEAT, HE/SHE NEVER BLAME A PLAYER, HE BLAMES THE TEAM.

And teh game is just for fun, never ever takes it seriusly...

A "professional" dota player is a person who gets paid for playing dota. Although it's rare to find someone who is really good at dota in GG client, I would assume that the player is good if he plays a game without -np. Noobs like to play -np because they don't want to get owned by haste or DD or are just too lazy to check the river.

A PRO is a "KNOW-HOW" player. Doesn't just come barging in getting kills. Aware of the whole situation, the map, enemies, items and counters. I've played with some just by observing how they play and not boasting they are PRO's (just imagine Viper playing 4v4, 5v5 getting a radiance between lvls 8-12 FnD process i met one). You can easily see that just as what others have said.

A PRO can pull up and carry his team even at a disadvantage. Not necessarily win the game but put up a great fight by coordinating his team into one.

In DotA...

"PATIENCE is a VIRTUE.." that is my motto..

Pro should have skills ofcourse, and extensive knowledge of the game. Patience is also a need. Also. You'd rarely see pros since if they're really pro they're playing in a Clan War and Leagues and stuff, rather than playing in pubs and stuff. =P

"a pro dota player, doesn't know that he's already a pro... a pro dota player is not bragging himself to be a pro... a pro dota player will never consider himself as a pro... lastly, the real dota pro, believes that pros doesn't really EXIST!"

-qoute and unqoute-
-consider yourself as a pro?! Then this game is not for you!-

Lol it's a joke Wink Anyways most "pros" should know that they are pro whey people when their clans starts to win tourney's and stuff but I agree that a pro should be humble.
