I have never understood the bottle. How do you use it and how is it refilled and such?

When you click on it then you heal HP and mana. To refill it you go to the fountain and it automaticlys refills. Or click the botle when its empty on the rune. then it will be alright.

a filled bottle has 3 charges, you can use them like tangoes but instead of healing 100 hp over 25 sec it heals 135 hp and 7 mp over 3 sec

you can fill it up by the fountains

also you can store a rune in it to use at a latter time (i think a rune will also fill the bottle, not sure because I don't play with the bottle)

when you bought the Empty Bottle (EB), it is not really empty. inside is the water from the fountain that will replenish your HP and Mana for a short duration and for 3 times only.

left-click the EB and it will heal you, 2/3 is remaining in the EB. left-click it again then it has 1/3 remaining. left-click it again then it's really empty.

go beside the fountain with the EB and it will automatically refill.

The Bottle is very useful when trying to survive or when trying to spam nukes. Running away while bottle healing does wonders for you.

The Bottle's ability to hold runes also grants you an unparalleled advantage at times.

However, it DOES take up 1 out of 6 Inventory slots that can be used for another item that could be used to increase your effectiveness in battle (stat increase and other bonus' that your item of choice could be giving you).

Thus, the item is very situational (moreso on the lineup of heroes you are facing against) and is only really effective early to mid game.

Otherwise, during late game, sell it and replace it with another item.

This item is great on;

Balanar Night Stalker for nuking and holding runes such as double damage, invisibility
Pudge for hook spamming, invisibility and haste
Bane elemental for the same reasons as above.

Many other heroes also benefit from bottle (obviously) but I like to think those 3 are the ones you can really integrate the bottle into their fighting style.
