666 is mainly a biblical symbolism.
7 stands for the perfect number in biblical jargons and is usually attributed to God. For example, in a passage where God tells Elijah that there are 7000 who have not bowed down to the idol Baal, it may mean that there were literally 7000 who did not do so, but more than that God is saying that a great number of people (symbolised by the 1000) from all classes of society (symbolised by the number 7) did not do so.
Following so, we may also infer that the number 666 means that this said individual strives to be perfect like God, hence the many sixes, but he will still stumble and never be able to achieve divine perfection, hence the 6 repeating itself but never becoming 7.
WRT the number 7 there's this book by a mental maths instructor that to check whether a certain number could be divided perfectly by the numbers 1-10, he related that all of the numbers 12345689 and 10 had explicit methods of determining perfect division. All except 7. 7 is the most difficult number to determine perfect division, and it is impossible to do so by mental mathematics.
Is my explanation satisfactory?

What's the whole meaning of 666? we all know that God is powerful than satan, but satan is always playing tricks to us and makes us do bad things..

Yes, but if satan was dead, there would be no hell, and where would all the sinners go? SO, in the end, god NEEDS satan, even though he doesnt like him. Also, god and stan met on a few ocasion. The book of job, for example, where they practicly made a bet. And god took everything form Job, just to prove to satan that Job would worship god even though he has nothing. So god took all properties away for Job andk illed his family. God is suposte to be good right? Does the above sound like good? Any way, he is more good then satan, but the fact is that ultimate good, requiers ultimate evil as an opposite side, so the ultimate good would have a purpose. Also, we dont need god, god needs us, since we do not need god to live, but god made us to worship him, so god needs us. We dont need that sucker. Neither do we need satan. They need us people. Get it? Its the great cosmical fraud. People dont need gods/demons, they need us! They need us so badly that they fight over each and every soul,like shown in the book of Job. Nuff said

Nooo... the beginnings of a religious discussion on the internet. (now with minor thread necromancy)
Any moment now, a spiteful, petty, obnoxious atheist will come in to "prove" that God doesn't exist and that religion is for dunderheads. An equally spiteful, petty and obnoxious God-fearing member will then attempt to argue that the opposite is true and that aforementioned atheist is going to hell.
Hopefully this remains a symbolic discussion on the origins of the number 666, which is actually quite interesting. XD
