haha i just tried him out. the thing is, you know how Kael his these orbs orbiting him? Quas Wex and Exort are the orbs. so when u want to cast a specific ulti, you select the specific orbs to orbit him then u use invoke to create a new spell. then u cast that spell.
Man, it is too complicated!
Take note that Kael is unable to have any of the 10 spells above until he's reached level 6. Plus, he only gets one spell at a time.

This guy is to good not only does he get his invoke at lvl 5 instead of the usual 6. He is also able to put more than 4 lvls into his other skills.

i think he's imba! ive tried 6.50 beta 24 and damn are the combos so complicated to mix. i like the tornado and meteor. plus the alacrity and deafining blast...

Definately a whole new way to play DotA. I've heard of a few skills that aren't listed here but cannot confirm anything.

Those are 3 main core items I think he will need as he will be going through a lot of mana just to get skills to use. The scythe will be his best disable for ganking/getting away i think.
The radiance im still not sure about. He doesn't seem like the best farmer, so I figured it would help, as well as when you are waiting for mana.
Can't wait to try him a little more!

Good thing the first 3 "powers" don’t cost mana. It will give a slight edge for kael in early game.
But the combos very very hard to remember. 10 combinations are there.

Okay guys, this hero is RIDUCOULUS. With experience (lol) i found out that, if you get Mask Of Madness, Basher, Dagon (optional), and hart of tarassque.
You WILL own the shit aout of EVERYONE at lvl 25. This is how you go...:
Go for Alacrity and Ghost Walk/Icewall (lategame) And Deafening Blast and Chaos meteor ( early/midgame)
Yes it is true, you can have 2 Ultimates.
At lategame as I said go for Alactrity And Ghost Walk/Icewall AND 3 EXORTS. Activate Alactricy and mask of madness.
With Basher you are now an EPIC permabasher! if you are participating in teabattles, just take tornado instead of Ghostwalk/icewall!

Please note, that he is able to have FOUR ranks of his ultimate, and SEVEN ranks of his normal skills...he does not have stats O.o

This hero is TOO ridicuoluos. It's too difficult and TOO stupid. In this case you can't bulid a solid strategy. Is TOO wick and easy to dead....

3 x ultimate orb.. there isnt a describtion to that new orb yet, he gives +25all stats afaik, dno about other stats, kinda strange cuz its like a skadi imo ;D

When I tried it the first couple of times, I thought it sucked. But more likely is, I sucked with him. Now that I found out how to play him he really owns. He's also really original, and good for high skilled players to show some dexterity in dota.

Hey all. Just came back from a game owning with this guy.
He totally rocks. Meteor is sick as hell, along with EMP.
Time to learn the other ulti's.
Oh yea, this guy has low stats in beginning, and can be easily ganked if done right.
Think hes Imba? Think again. I don't think people that play for real would get owned by this guy, hes a good farmer and support, but in no way is he imba, he has no stat skills and a crappy stat growth. It also ticks me off when any hero comes out people say he/she is imba even tho in like 2 weeks they realize its not that great of a hero. kthxbye
for the record, puck actually was imba when it first came out until it got nerfed to hell and back and came out decent. The same will happen, probably soon in .50b
I love this guy, he's super fun (but super hard) to play with.
The only thing that I hate is that Icefrog could have just made 3 different heroes instead of just 1 with 10 abilities... Kindof a shame

Best skills to use:
Chaos meteor/Sunstrike/Tornado for nuking
Tornado/Ice wall/deafening blast for disabling
Ice wall/ghostwalk for escaping (keep in mind that ghost walk makes you slower)
oh.....and a word of advice for those planning to play as him; use 2 Exort orbs and one wex when fighting creeps but when you go 1v1 against another hero your best bet is using 3 exort orbs. Don't use Quas orbs unless you're low on health and wanna heal fast and don't want to go to the fountain.

This hero is even funnier to play than techies! I tried him yeaterday in a 3v3. The best thing about this hero is his ability to be a nuker/disabler/dps and have a quick escape/ganking device(ghost walk). The most crucial thing is to spec the orbs right and remember to change them reguarly after casting invoke. Yesterday i pwned early game(though i didnt get any kills) i managed to outfarm aevery hero in the game with exort for last hits and regen when your opponent harass, and wex for 1v1 fights. I died late game for one simple reason. I spent top much time trying to gank with my noob tema so i dint lvl properly. ALWAYS LVL AS FAST AS YOU CAN WITH THIS HERO, this will make him real imba. Even though i was 6 levels under my opponents, i was able to escape them all, they were sand king faceless void and ursa, just by using tornado and Deafening blast. Those 2 skills can break ANY fight. And btw, when you see an ursa charging at you going through your creeps wawe, cold snap OWNS. To sum this long post up : very good and non-itemdependant hero, with the skills to counter any combination of heroes.

Sry for double post.. but i just saw that this isn't the real invoker lol^^ Oh and i forget to say something against Euls (yeah i know this isnt the items section but here will many people read it too ^^) Spam Cyclons???!!!! Come on Icefrog!! Where is the tactic when you can spam Cyclones?? In early games you got to save your 5 cyclones for important aims. You got to think when to use it... and now: just use cyclone everytime cooldown is ready.... i miss tactic!!!

This hero is definitely hard to play with. He has low health, low base-damage, and low mana, and you need to memorize his invoke-skills! WTF! He strongly relies on his skills which what makes him strong.
I think that this hero is a no-challenge to Magina, The Anti-Mage... Invoker with 0 mana?? PATHETIC!!!
this hero is really cool to use...really gets powerful during late game..but c'mon! his health is like 900+ at lvl 15..all you have to figure out is how to farm without getting killed by heavy nukers or heroes that are just too powerful for his low life..PS: best combo is COLD SNAP W/ DEAFENING BLAST..

at lvl 5 exort..........with 3 exorts he gets +45 damage......thats like buying a demon edge and a quarterstaff...........and it comes without the need of any mana too
this is just my opinion but can someone explain how he is imba? he cant spam cause 30 sec cool down and combos are hard to quickly click for unexpected situations. nothing good about his stats either especialy the movement speed.

This guy is HARD to play... but once mastered he could be DEVASTATING.
I got a dominating streak and 8-5 with this fella. Spawn a lava monster, get desolator and cuirass armor late game. Early game just nuke with Chaos Meteor and EMP or Tornado.
Can ppl please stop spamming on how magina can own him. Magina owns most intel heroes, like zues, lich, tinker, etc. So don't single out that this guy is useless cause magina has an edge on him.
Hey guys,this hero requires SKILL and a lot of training to own...u must know which skill combs are for early,mid and late game to own.....i have played him only once and figured out how hard he is....he also falls easily....too fragile if u don't care,however i see his potential on whole gaming when he s learned and not missjudged....

Correct me if i'm wrong, the orbs this guy has gives him their own little boosts, but opening up each orb is like a spellbook with a whole lot of spells to combo and crud. Invoke is the combination of spells to do something deadly. Right???

i just tried him out... Actually, he is pretty weak and has low stat gains and relies heavily on mana for survival. His first three skills, Quas, Wex and Exort have a max level of 7... and his ulti up to level 4 (gives 2 invokes = 2 spells at a time)WITHOUT aghanim's scepter... talk about imba!. He doesn't have that permanent +2 stat bonuses, as he will only need skill points for spells( 7+7+7+4=25)... 7 for Quas, 7 for Wex, 7 for Exort and 4 for Invoke. At lvl 4, Invoke allows him to cast 2 spells at a time. If all orbs he uses are the same (e.g. QQQ, WWW, EEE), lvl 7 Quas gives [(0.75x7)x3]= 15.75 hp per sec. regen, lvl 7 Wex gives [(2x7)x3]= 42% IAS and [(1x7)x3]= 21% IMS, while lvl 7 Exort gives [(3x7)x3]= 63 attack damage. See for yourselves ^_^

This looks hard and very complicated but maybe.... this could really somewhat like a cheat in DoTa i think the senti would have a hard time, his skills are strong But i think a new hero may be put into the senti side which could beat him up... hehehe....(I wish it could the Samurai Panda with PAndaren or Earth and i wish it would have spell reduction)

im sorry this is isnt a imba hero. hell he isnt even a good one. its not about the spells. he is different which is at most what u can say about him. in late game he has little hp,he's vulnerable to soooo many heroes
Personally, i think this hero is fairly balanced. Yes, he has the POTENTIAL to have very powerful combos and yes he can take any form of predescribed role, all except tank, but what you must remember is that he only gets a spells at lvl 5, has poor stat growth as well as no permanent stat gains. The true strength of this hero will only emerge in time as more ppl become pro with him but he will always remain weak to certain heroes, namely pudge, nerubian assasain PotM etc. any high damage combo hero will eat him as well as most dps heroes late game, so in order to get imba, you will have to play extremely skillfully IMO
why give him skill combination? I don like the idea like before.
Why don give him pyroblast, phoenix? Like the skill he use in WoW and that will be cool.

invoker is easy, screw any int build u can only use 2 abilities at a time and his damage spells are nothing special and can b tricky to build. Build attack speed and damage. I played with him, maxing wex 1st. Use emp in beginning to drain their mana, so they cant get a lot of damage to u very quickly and harass them using ur instances on wex. I switched in between EMP and alacrity in beginning and it was very effective. Later on swap out emp for cold snap so u have alacrity and cold snap: permabash, gg since u have damage and attack speed. Enough said. Ice Wall is good in a teambattle, rolling rock is a joke, even though it looks really cool. deafening Blast is pretty good if u can synergize it with something else. but I wouldnt recomend using it in beginning. Sun strike is a joke. Ghost walk can be useful but its easily countered with wards. I have never used forge spirit but it seems like one of his better abilities since the spirit reduces armor. GO DPS and ull get many kills, let me put it this way Kael vs. Razor with relatively same items, Kael wins with alacrity and wex.

quas wex and exort are orbs which u can add around him for up to a total of 3 instances of the orbs at any time(example you can have 3 lv1 quas orbs around him and get 2.25 hp regen/sec or any other combinations of the orbs)
the 10 spells can be changed depending on the kind of orbs around him duing the time you use his ulti
lv1 ulti lets him use 1 spell out of 10
lv2 ulti lets him use 2 out of 10
lv3 decreases cooldown of changing spell
he is the most variable hero in dota no doubt

just realised...his ulti can go up to lv4...which furthur decreases the cooldown

He ends up with a lot of mana to use... and most of his spells (besides ulti) have high cooldowns... so items like euls (guinsoo is not as good in 6.50b, since Euls will just tornado forever...since no more charges.) or other mana using items...are good.

Kael is not a hyper hero nor a weak one. He is like an average hero like the others.. This hero can kill easily and can be killed easily.. don't expect much on his skills.. cause you can use them one by one.. but i think, the skills and the combinations makes this hero balanced with the other heroes..

I couldn't contain my excitement the first time I used him.
No permanent stat bonuses, but he gets similar benefits.
HP regen for STR [No max HP bonus - DOWN]
Aspd for AGI [No Armor bonus - DOWN, Movement Spd bonus - UP]
Damage for INT [+3 Damage from usual 2 - UP, No max mana bonus - DOWN]
Come to think of it, each orb has a max instance [rank, skill level] of 7. It still is worthwhile. Major problems are HP, Mana, and Armor [No bonuses]. Figure out the items you need to compensate for these. He has a lot of spells at his disposal anyway.
Once you have the Invoke skill, have a combination of the three orbs then Invoke. That skill will correspond to your ultimate. You can adjust the effects by changing the orbs again.
For example, you decide to use Deafening Blast. Type Q, then W, then E. Quas, Wex, and Exort orbs should fly around Kael. If you press R [Invoke] Deafening Blast will be accessed [Invoke will be in cooldown]. Before you cast Deafening Blast you might want to change the orbs again to adjust its effect [More Exort orbs, more damage. More Quas for more knockback, more Wex for longer diasbility to attack].
Once Invoke is ready, you may change the spell again.
Hypothetically, orbs around him multiply the stat effects. Three Quas orbs around him will multiply Quas effect [HP regen] by 3, hence you can have as much as 15 HP regen per second at Level 7 Quas.
This hero has the BEST POTENTIAL in the game. He is also the MOST VERSATILE. Those who see this, and use his skills well, will show his worth.

You know, I don't comment much on dota heroes at all, but with the VERSATILITY of the Invoker, I just can't resist.
Just like any new hero that IceFrog introduces, people are quick to blame it as an IMBA hero. C'mon, who didn't call Huskar, Dirge, or even Puck IMBA when they first came out? Don't deny it, we've seen it done before, and hell its happening again for Kael the Invoker.
That's all right, it takes awhile for people to get used to him.
As I read these comments more, I learn a lot about our players here. 99% of the heroes in dota conform to a very strict ruleset: 3 skills and an ultimate.
Kael totally breaks the ice here as he has 3 skills, and 10 ultimates. The ability to use 2 ulti's at the same time is unheard of presently, hence IMBA.
But if you look at how he doesn't have real stats like the other heroes and such, then he is sort of weak in that regards.
Like I've said before, and Gate can confirm this, Kael is hero the smart people have been craving for. Our time has come to pwn.
If you want a hero who lacks depth and has simplicity, go use Spirit Breaker or Bloodseeker.
If you want to flaunt your intelligence and whip out some sick ass combo ownage, pick Kael.

I'm totally agreeing with rdn98 as well. People who choose to play bloodseeker or drow ranger or clinkz, don't really want to have a fun interesting thoughtful game. They want to just get as many kills as possible even if all it is is rightclicking. I've waited so long for a hero like this to come out.
And might I say, I'm almost definitely sure that Kael is a late game hero, starting from around lvl 10. But once u get to lvl 25, you'll have 2 ultis which can then be changed within 5 seconds, and with the maxed out Q, W, and E, should be like 10 excessively strong ultis. It takes at least 5 tries to do well with this character, but it's worth it.
Defeaning blast, Tornado and Ice wall are the key spells for winning team battles and ganks. Especially effective when co-ordinated via ventrilo or something like it. Chaos Meteor/Tornado are great finishers for feeling heroes.
Emp is nice, but needs a disable. (Like Black Hole, Shackle, Overgrowth, Ravage, Reverse Polarity.

no comment hehe. I think Invoker can handle any types of builds. It depends on the situation and so you can use different types of items that fits on the situation. Also using his skills properly on the situation. But 1 thing is for sure. Use Skadi and linkin. He needs some bonus stats since he have no addittional stats on leveling.
Getting shiva or hex would go great wif his chaos meteor..This is quite a complicated hero 2 use though..

The.King.Drink also has a very good point. Kael can actually release a barrage of spells in late game. Another thing is that a good amount of his spells could easily disable enemies, particularly Cold Snap with Alacrity or Ice Wall or any fairly decent skill with dps. Also, some have very good range, especially Tornado and Chaos Meteor.
I admit that Silencer and Magina has an edge against the Invoker. In these situations it will be a challenge for this hero to survive against them. Silencer and Magina are most of the time very predictable, and [thinking how most players evaluate] confident, and while Kael could be easily outmatched, he is rather unpredictable. One good advice; If your opponents are so skilled that they don't make a mistake, use your own mistake to surprise them!

All u guys out there who cant figure this guy out, cause of all the spells and key combos. He ain't realy that hard to play, u can make it really simple but also really complecated. I prefer, after many games, to use wex and quas. max out wex asap (unless ofc u're getting harrased, then max out quas) the extra as and ms is just awsome, specialy when u get your power treads, then u can escape most heros without problems. the main spell u should be using is tornado, its awsome, got crazy range and is really good for killing runners.
At lvl 10 u're secondary magic, should, primary, be ghost walk, its just insane! beside becoming invis, u slow your opponents, so if they are hunting a freind of you, u can slow them down or if u are w8ting for your freinds to come assist gank u can slow them and they almost wont ahve a change of escaping, unless ofc they tower hug .
after maxing out Quas and wex, begin to max out exort, before putting anymore points in invoke - unless ofc you are realy good using invoke and use his many abilities in right situations and in lvl 25, use defeaning blast, its just unbelieveable insane, but ofc first in late games, since It needs both Quas, exort and wex.

Sick, I've been referenced twice. Props to my references.
I plan to play Invoker again, so I will take a screenshot. However, the smart person would know that if he played the game himself, whether in single or multi-player, he would have known what the Invoker looks like at level 25.
But stats are convoluted because what I have at level 25 is depends on the items I have, and the current ulti.
It's true, Silencer and Magina is a pain in the rear for Invoker, but what you going to do?
Each hero has a good counter right? This is what maps are made of. I only returned to Warcraft III after my friends introduced me to Dota.
I thought Dota was awesome, but the bar has just reached higher with Kael.

Ok to clarify teverything, this is how it works, Kael can have at a time, 3 orbs or instances at a time. Depending on what three you have when invoke is activated (which unlike all other ultimates, is given to the invoker at level 5). Each orb/instance gives stats based upon it's level. At level one, when you invoke you get a new spell depending on your instances. The three instance spells don't cost mana but all other spells do including invoke. If you already have a new spell after invoke, it will stay until you invoke again which, if at level one, will replace it with the new one with no cooldown.
At level two invoke and higher, you can have up to two invoke spells then the third invoek you do replaces the first then the fourth replaces the second, etc.
I hope this clarifies how Kael is used.

funny, silencer and magina both can be escaped w/o difficulty
coldsnap should be very helpful in dealing with either heroes
i.e. coldsnap either hero and harass or lead them into creeps (this one is a bit situational though)
or ghostwalk can just allow you to walk away or wait for help

by the time you have fun with ur ults u should have a decent mana pool to knock that silly antimage and run for it (who knows, maybe even a kill :D)
try this combo it owns.
level up exort and quas first
use cyclone from euls scepter and then place ice wall where they would land. then when they are moving at a crawl use meteor then sunstrike. they will take maximum damage
learned all this guys skills and macroing all his abilities to deal a 3 spell strike combo within 3 hours of studying this guy.
he is quite imba if u learn how to play him though. easy to kill and also easy to be killed, unless u hav ghost walk ready. defeaning blast is kinda OP though, seriously, wtf?

With enough mana, Kael can perform a double spell, and possibly a hero kill, at Level 5.
One way to do this.
Skill Build:
1.Quas
2.Wex
3.Exort
4.Exort
5.Invoke
As soon as you get Invoke, select Wex, Exort, and Exort. These three orbs should levitate around Kael. Then use Invoke.
ie
type EEWR
Chaos Meteor [D] will be accessed and ready for use. Invoke will cooldown for 30 sec. Immediately, you should change the orbs to Quas, Wex, and Exort orbs.
ie
type QWE
When Invoke's cooldown is almost over, you might want to begin attacking an opposing hero to bring its HP to around 400 [not necessary for some].
Use Chaos Meteor and immediately access Deafening Strike [B]
ie
type DRB [then select target/ direction]
This Double Spell costs a good amount of mana so be aware. With little interruption and a successful execution, it could be done. It will help to study the range of Chaos Meteor and Deafening Blast. Maximizing the situation to your advantage helps too [say sending enemies towards your tower]. For one, Chaos Meteor deals decent amount of dps [about 200] and rolls straight in one direction. That same direction is where you synchronize Deafening Blast, damaging around 200 damage and knocking enemies back, so if they get hit by Chaos Meteor again, it will be fatal to the enemy, around 400 to 650 damage [resistances already calculated].
Simply put, access one spell and be ready to invoke another.
I recommend that you focus more on using his magicks than his attacks for offensive. They are more effective than his attacks, and than most heroes' attacks. A mana pool of around 500 should be fine.
You might want to perform a different combo depending on the situation. Clearly your skill build will depend on the skills you need for early game if you intend to perform decisively early on.

I think this guy will be owned by STR-type heroes. He's too frail. If he gets ganked, which is most likely considering how low his HP is, he's doomed to be caught in level-gap. His skills are too complicated (too WoW-like for my taste). If he gets stunned by, say, Barathrum or Bradwarden, he's gonna get freakin' mauled like a rag doll. He has no skill to effectively make him a deciding point in any game. His best bet would be in a team game. And even then, he's only good for support.
The man is cheap, although there are somtimes i dont understand...does Agahimes increase his damage...because i was playin with my friends and it seems like it did..
n e ways...defening blast is crazy...use it to ur advantage...AOE STUN..from far away!!!!! plus chaos meteor can help push and gain money..
