this messes up caster heros too easily... its too easy to make!

many start with RoH, planewalker is low cost, helm of iron will relatively low, and a second RoH is a tiny cost for 30% spell reduction. 8 hp regen is ok i guess... but 30% reduction, turns intel heros into useless scum.

this will probably be the new sny... first combination item for many.

Yes, 2 RoRs are cheeper than a RoH, but there are cases where you get RoH first or maybe you bought Perseerance and decided to break it down to form this. Nice new cheap item. Heroes with innate spell resistance, like Pudge, Magina and Viper, will have the chance to stack this early with their skill.

I used this on myself last night when I was axe. My health was barely dropping against normal nukes. And with Helix it made me very hard to kill.

Helm recipes always lose the +5 armor.. look at HOD

1. do 2 of these stack?
2. do they reduce damage from all nukes?
3. does it affect orb efect spells like traxex frost arrows or clinks flame arrows?

They should rename this to Hood of Pudge. With this item (easily achievable by say... level 6'sh), you can use 50dps rot basically forever... Now pudge can farm w/ rot VERY early in the game and get HoT much earlier.

Any team heavy on the int side should expect to see alot of hoods on the other team.

Is it IMBA? Maybe, but the spell reduction doesn't stop disables like BKB does. Very situational unless your pudge. The 2x RoR components just made RoR a bit more valuable in comparison to tangos though... Goodbye RoH. Anti-Mage/viper/etc shouldn't waste money on this, they have innate resistance, so the money can be spent otherwise on damage.

the new aegis with less of the cost protects u from nuking int. heros enigmas best friend... it costs the same as a crystallis and im a bargain shopper i look for lower cost and level items that get the job done i dont like any high ech xpensive things like skadi i h8 these strats with xpensive items tht i wont be able to farm to untilll 40 min. into the game. this is a good item low cost good effects and fits into any build

would stack sumting like this gives you thirty percent straight off and if you have a hero with magic resist then it should go 100-30 = 70 20%(hero skill resist) of 70 is 14% so 30 + 14 is 44% spell resistance otherwise it is too poewrful. Then if you get another it would go 100-44=56 30% of 56 is 16.8% 16.8+44=60.8 and so on so to get a decent increase beyond original you would have to buy several.

Best item for Pudge. Pudge could rather go for 2 of this than HoT (If 2 Hood of Defiance stack). That would be ownage!

then hed be vulnerable to melee heroes who can stun. the lower hp cap and lower regen doesnt help if the enemy has got stun

great alternative item but not as as aegis could provide but any it helps in your game.

Once I was playing against an ogre magi.I made this and the multicast only did verry little damage.It's the perfect counter against spellcasters

multicast does loads of damage though. for low hpers at late game, multicast can equal instant death if the enemys hp is low enough

It depends. You wouldn't need so much magic resistance if spells aren't flying around. Besides, of the 3 heroes u named, only pudge really needs it to reduce rot damage. Get it on viper/antimage only if spells are devastating yr team.

First of all, HOD does not stack with itself. Second of all, the armor your hero has, that percent you see, is only for physical attacks, not casted spells. Hero armor naturally has about 20 percent or so of castable spell reduction. Regardless of on the tooltip it says heroes take reduced damage from peircing, siege, SPELLs, etc. That spell damage is that blue raindropish icon that mages and such have within normal warcraft, not castable spells. So if your hero says he has 56 percent reduction, you are taking that much less from physical attacks, not castable spells.

if you wear two hoods, do you get 60% magic reduction? that would be rockin. do they stack?

u dont get 60% spell reduction, u only get the 8hp regen that stacks.

Unless ALL of your enemies are DPS heroes (which i doubt), hodf would really come in handy at times. Given that ALL heroes had passive unstated 25% spell reduction, hodf would sums that % nicely. And the 8hp/s would be your x'mas present =)

Sometimes I get this item for the 8HP regen only. The 30% spell reduction is great though, but thats not the main reason why I get this item. (Unless I'm against spell reliant heroes). Only 500 gold more expensive than 2 Ring of Healths and uses up less inventory space. If I wanted to, I could probably dismantle this into Assault Cuirass

If u really wanted u could stack two planewalkers cloaks, and two ring or regen and get just as good for say 500-600 cheaper. This would take up too much space though , thus there would be no point in it.

As far as i am aware, yes it does reduce damage from pudges rot, and also works for other heroes with life-sapping skills such as huskar's spears or centaurs double edge.

Also very good item for dragon knight, combines well with dragons blood giving 12 hp/s regen, 8 armor and 30% spell reduction, very easy to tank.

This item is shit! The armor from Helm of Iron Will will be gone after you have created this fuckin' headress!

I think Magic resistance stacks in following way:
25% base resistsance+ 30& hod
=> 1-(0.75*0.7)=52.5% resistance
For example with viper 20%:
=> 1-(0.75*0.7*0.8)=58% resistance

meat hook and dismember are not magic spells, only works against rot.

all heroes hav 25% spell reduction, cept for antimage, pudge and viper who have additional spell reduction. its a percentage of the remaining spell resistance that is accountanted for.

For example, if you buy a Hood of Defiance on Antimage and level up his Spell Shield, when Spell Shield is level 4, the total magic resistance is calculated like this:

T = 0.475 + (100-47.5)/100 * 0.4
= 0.475 + 0.525 * 0.4
= 0.475 + 0.21
= 0.685

100dmg becomes 49dmg.

even though Doombringers "Doom" is classed as magical, it pierces all magical resistance. its one of the most powerful silences cos it silences both skills and items. only sheepstick and cyclone also has that ability. orchid or skill based silences dont silence items.

Why is this item doesn't have +5 on armor because helm of iron will gives you +5 armor if you wear it?But when you turn it into HoD you will loose 5 on your armor and I think it would be much appreciated if it will give you plus on the hero's armor right?

you can only get one of these on any hero, any more and it wont stack

stacks cumulatively:
1: 70% dmg taken costs 2350
2: 49% dmg taken costs 4700
3: 34.3% dmg taken costs 7050
4: 24.01% dmg taken costs 9400
5: 16.807% dmg taken costs 11750
6: 11.7649% dmg taken costs 14100

if the innate resistance is 25% and lets say it counts last the final dmg is 8.8% of the spell, have fun taking like 75 dmg from lions ultimate
