Sange and Yasha

Good and easy item to farm for. Good for most heroes basically. Adds a decent amount of hp, and the 10% maim would just be a bonus. ; ) Great for heroes with speed boosters like LightningRevenent.

I think this is usually too expensive; I usually turn to butterfly if the -ma reads str heroes. Very good build up to final item though, every component you buy will help greatly. Must have for chasers and passive stunners.

It's only ok for drow. With her frost arrows, she doesn't need that much attack speed. Also they help with escaping, as well as her silence. S&Y better for others. My build w her is power treads, Mask of Madness, BDK, and whatever you want after that.

Best for Barathrum if you know what I mean.

Does the Maim proc on ranged heros, I was using this on Blone Clinkz, and I didn't see it proc once. But i may not be looking hard enough, or the 30% didn't make that much of a difference.

or rikimaru :), even though u dont really need it at late game cos even if ur rikimaru has 365ms and enemy has 522, u should be able to catch up with blinkstrike and slow with smokescreen

@ Chitzu_91, SnY doesnt work with EoS. pudge doesnt really need Maim when he has rot that slows them down. the movement and attack speed could be helpful though

SnY is good for some heroes. like Rikimaru, he has low HP, low base damage, therefore Strength and Damage, 16 Agility stacks with his Backstab attribute. Maim is a bonus on Rikimaru, meaning he wont have to spam Blink strike all the time and Maim really helps on him if Smokescreen is in cooldown.

People don't get SnY for the sole purpose of 10% ASPD or MS. SnY comes in a package and all these little bonus's add up to become something great. the 35% MS speed for 6 second is instant death for heroes who have low hp, so don't even bother running away if your maimed.

I would never have thought anyone would look back on this item's comments. SO cool how ppl are out there reading. But for those little boosts.. is it worth the money?

The only hero i know that can benefit fully from this item is Barathrum. It's as though this item was made for him alone. Otherwise i don't feel this thing goes anywhere. PPl say get this in place of skadi but s&y is such a poor alternative to skadi.

---Aiushtha, her ulti gets the opponent to lose attack speed, Maim will help u lower attack speed and movement speed, SnY also gives movement speed which she might need if she wants to impetus
---Rikimaru, his passive backstab can benefit from the 16 agility + 16 damage, giving him 32 damage overall while increasin attack speed as well, if u want to chase with rikimaru as well, the movement speed will get u in range so u can blink strike to catch up
---Naix, even though hes got a passive ability to slow attack speed and movement speed, some people like them to go even slower. he doesnt need it though
---Raijin Thunderkeg, he attacks like crazy with his first skill activated meanin ur chance of gettin a maim is very high, u wont hav to use purge

S$Y its good early/mid game coz its easy to get and farmamd gives very good stats.

lifesteal overrides maim... who the hell wants maim? sure its good when its triggered, but other than that, no thanks. movement speed is the only reason.

first slot ORB EFFECT ITEM overrides all other ORB EFFECT ITEMS except lifesteal. Lifesteal orb overrides all other ORB EFFECT ITEMS.
why would u want to put SnY in first and EoS in second? with EoS, your guaranteed slow with every attack.

Works well as first item for venomancer (who seems greatly ignored)...then give him travel. Awesome speed and attack boost for an agility hero....WOOT!

this is probably the best starting item for rikimaru because it is very useful in the beginning-mid games. Rikimaru can use the life from str. and greater attack speed to hit last/deny creeps. it's very convenient
because you can chase and kill heroes quite easily.

its useful for him at late. the movement speed is invaluable to him.

i usually just get these because of the strength item in early game w/ the ms as bonuses. cause i think the 10%maim is just to low. i think it is the most useless orb effect in the game. i just wanna know how many ppl out there agrees that maim is almost useless and poor excuse for a scady alternative

I think it's a bit overpriced. I like how it can be built in components and this item is only useful for early to mid game. I just can't decide how good it is.

304 Hp, 32 attack and 26% increase in attack speed, i think it's the damage that makes me think it's not as good.

If you want the maim to trigger, place the SnY in the first slot of your item inventory. Otherwise, place desolator first..

I'd rather buy shiva's guard now than SnY it's cheaper and much effective. Sure 200 damage, sure slow plug you get 15 armor it's very nice..

from my knowledge of warcraft the item closest to top left is the more dominant orb. I'll need a second opinion on that though.
However, maim is not a orb effect that triggers every hit so i think desolater will be default orb.
I might need someone to clarify as this is pretty complicated.

The orb effect this is how it works; maim is a 4 second slow, if s and y is in your frist slot it will overide all your other orbs besides life steal. For example you have deso and S and Y for each hit you do that maim does not proc you will get your orb from deso. If your hero has an orb built in it will override S and Y. Which means you dont get maim every. Certain heros have an exeption 2 this rule. Luna with S and Y will never work. With ursa everytime your maim procs you will reset your passive orb. So.... if you want to get another orb with S and Y fell free 2 if you dont mind giving up S and Y. Hope that clears everything up.

I hardly ever build this item as a core item when using an Agi hero, i would rather use a bfly for evasion, especially with the boost to ptreads, you can make str treads for an agi if you think it's beneficial.

the bad thing is that is an orb effect and it could give you more strenght and more agillity( 20 str 20 agi)and more attack and movement speed(20% atack speed and 20%atack speed from the sugessted amount of agility=40% atack speed and 15% movement speed) would make S&Y great weapon(even with a litle bit higher price now it costs 5100 gold an 6000 gold would be a great weapon and one more thing 30% chance to maim)

on a team battle, for example a clash, why do you need to maim your target? mostly in clash, it's a nono to run and leave your allies right? so basically, you dont need to maim your opponent... instead, make your damage more devastating... it makes your enemies dissolve quickly... mkb will do the trick....

The effect is fine. no need to change it and make it higher.

the item is meant for assassins. plain and straight hero killers. usu...hero killers attack fast...with large damage and low life... i.e noobseeker, Spirit breaker aka the killstealer69...and Void... its a duh item.

this is a great item. if your str or agi hero it adds:
32 damage,
304 life,
30% attack speed
10% move speed
and 14 chance to slow.. and slow is extreemly powerful in dota.. ESPALLY FOR MELEE HEROS. I recomend this item to all melee heros Expt those with ORBS and Phantom lancer.

Forgot to mention this item is what i like to call Some Assembly Required.. Basically it has alot of little peices so u become more and more powerfull wile ur trying to farm it. unlike other items were u gota same up to 3k to buy a realy big peice. This is why i recomend this item for first key item after treads/ bot. Sange first tho for life, Also some Agi range pwons with sny also. DROW IS MONSTER WITH SNY.. I think that S&Y is definitely overrated. It has great values as it does enable you to chase, but in the long run, it's not worth it. Why chase when you can get damage items like butter and really rape. 5100 is a good way to a butterfly. And fast attacking heroes maiming... why not just get damage and be done with it -_- don't need to bicker about with maim. Heroes like Razor definitely needs things better than S&Y. Why do people still get this.

1. SnY stacks with EoS if you are a ranged hero (Kardel, Razor etc) because when you are ranged EoS isn't an orb.

2. Expensive item and I've never bought it for anyone except Barathrum.

3. Noob item late game.

They've changed it yet again in 6.52. The bonuses for SnY are all 15 now (i think) ie 15 agil etc, 15% ms etc, and the recipe costs are different. 800 for sange/yasha instead of 600, and 800 to combine instead of 1000.

this item would have been good for luna, she would have more than 360 speed with out boots.

Excelent item in my opinion it's the best item in the game i buy it to nearly all strength and agility heros, it makes a deadly combo with battlefury.

this item is good, because you maximize the use of every item, elvenskin alacricity to sange then 2 items for the yasha. although expensive but the usage is very efficient. Esp if you're not a good farmer.

S&Y is plainly uber now with he upgrade... also early game maim is good and late game, who give a f**k about maim, make another orb.. and benefit from agil, str, ms and AS.. plainly an amazing item as can made slowly :D imba for all chars... even invoker.. except for all other intel..
