hmm... I disagree on your item build. to add dark rift at level 6 is pretty much a waste. And the casting time for his ulti is really too long. I see no need for a HoT or skadi either. All he really needs is a shiva's guard, and the problem of your quarry escaping is gone

manta is odd, mekansm is odd. boots, battle fury, shiva's, radiance and just a simple hyperstone is suffice for this guy. He has heavy armour and difinitely more than enough hp to tank out damage

And btw, pit before expulse mainly because pit saves your ass early game. You already have firestorm to farm... And a battlefury. And expulse I'm sure you well know is useless without any creep corpses... And your original build is extremely pricey. For one of the richest heroes in the game, you sure pointed that out lol. But seriously. Consider a shivas in the main build. -armour and a 200 dmg artic blast which slows. It's excellent. Btw, you need to talk on how to use pit of malice...

OK, this is pretty neat seeing as nobody else has had the courage to make a Pit Lord guide yet. Items I agree, skill build I disagree to some extent (Expulsion early... best used for that 2k effect later and you need Pit of Malice if you expect to live). Screenies, good mostly.
My main concerns... I shall PM you. You're not gonna like these. Rating when its back up, I would say 8-9/10 now.

first of all, why skip pit? you say expulsion is good in team battles but Pit is surely better, gives disable and lets AoE kicks in. there is hardly any people would stay in with that large green circle burning

bottle is useful on pit, you gonna use 8/10 of your time scouring for runes and using pit so that heroes may kick in(cont)

necro is a very useful thing on pit, solves mana problem and damage problems.the aura is also better than SnY's and worths more as it gives you push power. a must get for me

Alright the reason for my ulti is cuz its how u avoid death without pit of malice early. Just cast it and run and six seconds later your gone. I even added a pic of his best TP spot to juke into. However i realize my mistakes and will fix it.

lol you did this strat mainly for the contest didn't you. Yes, battlefury is a must for pit. Plus it looks his attack look cooler. Shiva's gives a reduction to armour, and a pretty decent nuke and slow. Not to mention it gives you decent mp. Pit lord's skills require a pretty huge amount of mp which I'm sure you've realized. Hence the necessity of a bottle early-mid game.

He is not a ganker support hero cfx. he is a farmer pusher support. BoT gives u lots of speed and double tele. I say no to shivas in mian build cuz he doesnt need all that int and armor really but its in there in the other builds cuz its still good. I elaborated on why expulsion is better, and why battlefury beats radiance. what would you rate it now you think counterforce?

farmer isnt something i call to heroes without chronosphere and strafe. he simply does not have the direct abilities to benefit from damage items unlike bone. all he has is 2 aoe damage and 1 disable + a sucky ultimate due to no people knows how to use him well. when i say gank, i also mean push. the gain fromm farming 30-minutes with this hero isn't the same like bone. hes not a rice farmer

I think by farmer he means a hero who excels at getting most of the gold out of a creep wave. With two AoEs as you pointed out, Pit Lord definitely falls into this category.

BF is good only on heroes that can really utilize the cleave, those with placement skills, polarity etc. and pit isnt one of them

you farm considerably well with rain and expul, i hardly believe BF would be useful for more ,radiance own because you dont have to attack at all, BF is one sucky item since i think only noob would stay too close together, not just that they are exposed to clave, but to AoE's too

another thing is, why i am pushing the no BF build is because currently, this item has become worship artifact, yet i dont see any decent game using this

you kind of supported me, yes, if you noticed i also said that BF should only be gotten by positioners and that means i dont get BF on PA, i prefer mkb
back to the real discussion , since you mentioned PA, lets take a look

PA
-weak until farmed up 3 main items
-no team value except for slow
-fully late game based hero
-no farm skill to make use of her ultimate
-focus fire hero
and as conclusion, PA is not well rounded(cont)

pit
-3 AoE skill
-a disable which synergies well with all his skills
-good farmer but has hardly any uses for multiple high tier items
-kinda well rounded
-pushes easily

so tell me why would you need BF that does almost nothing in real hero battles. as i have said there is no people that would stick together in good games as this will leave them opened to attacks, in other word its just useful for farming but pits already crazy in farming. the word to compliment this item is, useless(cont)

radiance however, is powerful all game long against lots of heroes .35 damage per sec to anything in the AoE is priceless, which makes radiance one of the most promising item ever. BF should only be gotten on heroes that does not have the concept if your raxes are down still expulsion and fire would be sufficient
furthermore, radiance is still useful when you're disabled, BF isn't

I agree with the Battle Fury argument over Radiance. The whole AOE+35 synergy isn't quite as useful in my opinion as doing splash damage. Plus theres the other clear winning factors such as the cheaper price, the regeneration, and the smaller parts.

there is a reason why radiance is a tier 4 item

Constructive criticism is one thing - trying to get people to change their minds when they clearly favor Fury over Radiance is a pointless boring exercise.

Also if you are getting radiance what you have to do something for mana regen, basilius isn't that much, but perseverance makes up for that.

on mid/late game cast firestorm and kill with your cleaving attack the waves

Then its agreed that bf is better.

You dont NEED assault, its a luxury item though

Nice guide. Will try it. Just to clarify. explusion does 80dmg per corpse when a creep or hero dies? Take means that the corpse will only explode once and any hero that comes into the explusion radius will not get affected by the already exploded creeps?

when he suggested BF over radiance for pandaren, the judges were furious and gave a shitload of reasons which killed BF because it was true

Umm Coco I need help a bit...

The firestorm and expulsion farming technique isn't working for me, sometimes i get the wave killed it firestorm but i dont get the second with expulsion, because the waves don't stay there or because the corpses aren't there anymore. can you help me out?

Dude you gotta time it right. Creeps spwan each 30 seconds, so look at the clock, then cast firestorm when you think they'll end up in that spot, creep tanking/blocking may be required if you mess up.

Like the items (I've seen them in owning pitlords), the skill build makes sense, and I absolutely loved the idea of "the Technique o.O" xDD
It does sound promising, but it would require quite a bit of practice to get done... Anyway, looks real good and I think it deserves a 10...
One thing however... When you're putting screenies, make sure you put the life bars over the heroes... I can't see exactly how much the combo is hurting Razor for instance...

Oh and shimrra... We can indeed comment on it while it's off... Just go to strategies section and see "Latest Strategy Comments"..

Good guide for noobs with no notion of early game ganking. Any real good player put pit of malefice first. The firestorm alone at level 4 will make you kill all the creeps at a wave.

Well, interesting guide. 4/5 all in all. I would suggest Radiance IF you could farm it well. Its pretty easy actually.

where u get mana for each wave is expulsion, its half the mana cost, just try the frikkin technique

you dont need expulsion early game..you wont have enough mana 2 cast both firestorm and expulsion. expulsion is great around lvl 18 cuz # of creeps has increased considerably. get pit early cuz it works great in ganks...dunt skip it since it is PL 's only disable

Dude read the guide and youll see why. You dont have enough mana to use both, but you have enough to alternate between spells, expulsion is 75 mana! jesus

Your AoE build is fine. But you should have said it was for pubs. Pushing very fast early on is not recommended. Although you might survive a gank, your teammate may not if his alone. Also, Being able to kill all creeps makes you an imba farmer. Since you can't pool, you'll and up having all gold but your lanemate won't have a single penny.

Good guide on a pit lord.

Although, I really suggest radiance over battle fury, since most of the time, you would be casting spells, or not attacking in the middle of a team clash. Radiance also ensures you hit all your enemies, unlike battle fury which you only hit on a certain splash AoE.

Battlefury is feasible anyway on pitlord.

A good guide on him. Though, your drawings are a bit..mm..confusing shall I say?

Oh yeah, and so you know, there is one more thing about dark rift you should know.

There is a certain way to save allies by dark rift. Only can be done with lvl 1 Dark Rift.

Step 1: Have injured ally(s) stand at tower.
Step2: Buy TP scroll
Step3: Cast dark rift on fountain
Step4: Cast tele scroll on tower where ally is
You will tele to your ally and then tele him safely to the tower.

EDIT: Step3: Cast dark rift on the BUILDING near fountain.

And you will teleport ally safely to that building in the end

thats aside the point. alright guide, a bit lacking in some areas, especially the teaming. for instance, pit doesnt go well with AoE, he goes well with anyone who needs a disable. i had a 3v3 Pit Ursa and Tree vs Void and 2 other guys. thats a painful 8

My strategy is Firestorm+Pit first, Arcane Ring first item, and I'm not sure about S&Y. I'll try out your style and see if it works, but for now, no rating yet.

seconds of disable. during which bear got triple kills every time. see also, Sven, mortred, pl. anyone who can deal 3000 damage in seconds.

SnY doesn't fit him. Battlefury is situational like facing images. Scoring dark rift early on isn't good. Max out those 3 AoE skills first before getting dark rift. Well, it's your own build and about the guide it's okay..

I'd rather not skip pit in the first part of the game. Its stun is a better escape tool than the mini-stun from expulsion. Then I strongly disagree with putting a guinsoo's in the build. Another Hot and a Vanguard suits better for tank/killer.

"I will crush your Azgalor" translates as "I will pick Bloodseeker, buy only Boots of Speed, and rage quit after 0-4 in the first ten minutes"... assuming you're even on the right gateway. Now calm down and try the guide.

may i suggest that a good lane for pitlord is the mid lane... since you can effectively harass your opponent with your "circles of death" ^^ try it... they will be forced to move back a bit or stay at the side of the river

Good guide but I eould reccomend getting a linkin or shivas first. Linkin will help protect you from ganks and shivas will give you a huge mana pool as well as a nice slow for those DPS heroes who will try to kill you. Pit lord is VERY underestimated, but if used properly, he is the king of AOE

I will try mid lane, he does GREAT with solo though. and he doesnt need shivas... arctic blast tickles, the aura isnt too helpful, and int isnt needed as his regen with bfury is amazing

since his attack animation is so slow, I normally grab a MoM on Pitlord. I think it surprises people with a fatty cake running in and going NOM NOM NOMMMMZ (with a cleave)

After re reading it, You really showed that he is no longer the Shit Lord, But a pit lord!

skipping pit is a waste, don't get rift till lvl 13 where all other spells are available. Pit is a 3sec AOE disable, it should most definitely not be left out till last - you will be alot more useful in escaping and saving team mates if you can 3 sec disable a group of enemies with a ~20sec cooldown, rather than teleport with a 6 second delay once every 3 minutes.

As for farming you don't need expulsion at all. A level 4 firestorm entirely kills a whole creepwave, cast one each wave = farm.

very nice and informative guide... thanks im actually trying this hero and yeah i find him great farmer and can really kill a hero... although i find him a bit slow coz maybe bcoz im used to using agi heros.

awesoem guide (who knew explusion could annoy my enemy :P)! I recommend a rune bottle in the beginning and stay mid. You can spam while collecting runes to keep spamming. I tried it and it worked pretty well :).

Errm, nice guide one thing i gotta point out is that Ring of Basilius IS better at mana regen at ALL levels. y? well, let's look at it. sobi mask gives 50% INCREASED mana regen. While basilius gives 0.65 briliance aura, which in fact is 65%, so yeah it is a 15% extra mana regen from the ring. otherwise i like ur guide very much, although i saw my friend own using the pit of malice in the early game and therefore thats like the only place where i go differently then u. so in the end, 9/10 gratz!

PIt of MAlice + Firestorm is his most powerful combo early game so why learn expulsion early in the game you'll want this skill late game where there are more creeps

and for the build (necro even if most tourna here in this country bands them) shiva is nice, guinsoo is also nice, heart is also nice, same goes for travel. His a caster hiding in a str's body. Arcane ring is also a must early game.

good item build but im afraid pit of malice is needed early if u expect to dmg enemy heroes with firestorm and expulsion or norm atk, or escape, bottom line is u need pit of malice early, team or no team

ring of basilius does not give 65% brilliance aura sorry. Read the article on it here at DS.

And you all say pit of malice is the best for doing early combos. The truth is, you dont need to do combos, you need to farm, get that in your head. Read the WHOLE guide please....

I don`t see a reason for buing travels for pit, better to buy hand of mordigar...with battlefury and two hearts it`s funny beast with violet ass.

IMO PL's a tank caster and of course as you mentioned hes also a farmer/pusher.

Basically i dont use my normal attack to farm at mid/late game and just FS em and wait when my creeps fight em(shd b able to kill most of em and just easily 1 hit the survivors)so b fury is useless for me. mana regen lets me spam my spells and slow+disable get me kills sometimes(only after shiva guard)

Great strategy! Gave this a try and it worked great. You would have to do really well to the items you have listed within the time frames, but it depends on the players you are facing. Great all around build for PL. 10/10

good guide!! the best allies for pitlord are the hero who has aoe damage also like:

Sand king
Leviathan
raigor
etc..

i like Battle fury and radiance for him to kill instantly the creeps and have a higher damage for the expulsion.. thats all..

I played PL yesterday for the first time and kept this guide in the back of my head.
I know by faqt that perservence works better than arcane ring. And i used 2 battle furys/BoT/assault C. and a bracer. I was herassing as crazy and farmed like hell..
I casted first FS followed by Emo and ended with PoM. The only one able to survive the battle was a Centaur.
The reason for the 2 BF is for the mana and hp regen/dps boost. And the great stack of cleave :D

Agree with almost everything, pit lord is one of my fav heroes, though i do somethings different, at start i dont learn expulsion, i do firestorm + stats till stats are 4/5, that gives me the necessary mana to keep my ass on lane, kill some1 if necessary or run out of a gank cuz i'll have pretty enough hp, and i finish the early game with arcane ring, battle fury and boots of travel :P later i would sell the arcane ring,money wont be a problem xD but usually game ends first :P

i respectfuly disagree with radiance on pl.
I prefer battlefury as well because it gives more damage as well as mana and health regen.
Radiance is for heroes that are high dps/hero killers that want more damage and can kill creeps in the wave a little bit easier not for pure farmers and pushers like pl where your spells allready get almost all the creeps in the wave which means you need *da da da da* mana regen. The damage and cleave is good because who really wants to keep..

casting spells for every single creep wave.
Also i have one more thing to say about that cool down.
If you think you may need your spells soon for fighting a hero or the next creep wave comes before the cooldown has come then damage and cleave is more useful than a straight 35dmg per second aura. Also due to magic resistance radiance dps get reduced to like 28.6 or something per second when with cleave and the extra damage (say the complete item build) your cleave would do

soooo much more than that to the heroes nearbye somewhere like 65-80 depending on heroes (estimate).
Also i think coco's main point for battlefury is that you can accumulate the items throughout the game and they are all useful as you get them. However its not as useful to just farm up 3800 godl for just damage especially when you depseratly need the mana regen.

Over all i lov the guide, i may play pl a bit differently but you supported all your actions with valid reasons so good job : D

I have disagrees with item build, since after battlefury you ought to get satanic. Anyway I'll give it 10/10 since this is fine and only guide for Pit Lord.

For me, PL is an int str hero!
He is not for killing/ pumping dmg but only for supporting.
If you ask me, I would prefer:
1. Boot of Travel
2. Shivas Guard
3. Heart
4. Guinsoo
5. Necro
6. Dargon 5/ Orchid Malevolence

Why is the build like that?
Let me explain:
1. BoT is for the movement speed and also with this item, you will hv 2 TP for push.
2. Shivas Guard increases armor and aura helps to slow and gd for team fighting.
3. Heart is just gd for tank and serves as the only thing for regen.

(cont'):
4. As I said dmg does not help him much (I will explain why), I would not prefer to make it as a fighter. I prefer to buy Guinsoo to help team fight. Besides, the orb nowadays help to add str too.
5. Necro is gd for him to disturb enemies.
6. I prefer to buy dargon 5 for some kills sometimes, but if the games needs, maybe orchid is gd for helping silence a powerful disabler, like Mag. For the last item, sometimes I will buy one more heart if needed.

Lastly, I would like to comment y dmg no gd for him: Simple, his agi and agi gain is too low that his attack speed and response is too slow for being a fighter. BF relies on high attack speed. It sucks for slow attacking hero like PL. For farming, skills are enough. Rad is gd sometimes but not always, if partners like spectre or NW needs Rad. Two Rad do no double effects and will waste. In the following, I would intro another gd build for PL.

If there are enough int supporters,
I suggest to be a perfect tanker, who will never die. Besides, as a perfect tanker, the dmg is also not too low that it can help fight in team battle:
1. BoT
2. Heart
3. Heart
4. Assault
5. Shivas Guard
6. Rad/ S&Y/ Deso
First 4 items, no needa explain. 5 increase more armor and can help battle. With over 30 armor, no one can kill it easily.
6 depends on situation. Rad is in the case which partners wont buy. (cont')

S&Y is somehow gd as orb effect, but slow atk speed is still prob. Of coz S increases certain speed in addition to assault & shivas effect. Y effect can come out obviously (relatively speaking). Plus S agi gain, armor increases more as a super tanker. With all skills out, no one will come close! Deso is somehow gd for aiming the strongest hero if necessary. That ll be crazy if PL w high armor n reduces others, but I dun suggest deso always, as it is not always necessary!

I like BoT, 2 Battlefurys,satanic and Curiass. Still, great to see a pitlord guide and I agree, he is underestimated!

Good guide, the idea of using expulsion at early game is excellent, im a pit lover but i dont go for guinzo, i prefer power treads, bf and SY or MoM cause he has nice hp and high damage to destroy almost everyone

er.....dude...ur item build are way 2 xpensive ...especially the end midgame item..all those item is about..14K!!WTH??any hero cant farm that well unless he's up for godlike streak!!

i didnt say its not good but it is too expensive for him. you can getmuch better items for him . I would say battle fury,radiance, satanic,assault cuirass, BoT.
or instead of satanic you can make vladims early and use an an orb stygian desolator or manta style.

Pit lord should never be played as a pusher . All pushers in general are bad since you'll only be doing 2 things feeding your enemy with a wave of creeps and hoarding all the gold in one lane for yourself. Pit lord in no way a good carry but his pit makes him a good ganker/supporter. Support heroes should not farm too much but they should instead sacrifice their own farming time to gank and keep enemies underleveled. I'm sure getting pit early and helping a lane mate farm a get kills is better.

Why not ring of basilius?
Because sobi mask is cheaper and allows for a chicken to be purchased, also the regeneration from sobi mask is greater than the ring of basilius at level 7 when you have 32.6 int . Ring of basilius gives .65 mana per second. while Sobi mask gives 50% mana regeneration. Each point of int gives .04 mana. so once you have 32.5 int sobi becomes greater....

WTFFFF!!! cant believe my eyes! Serious misconception here. sobi gives .5 mana regen and rob .65. >:|

The bit you pasted from the guide is not only correct, but common knowledge. Sobi is better after 32.5 Int.

interesting strategy, at least better than some made here..i agree with using pitlord as a spammer in early games in able to dig core items in mid game..lets admit it its hard to own hero(es) in early game unless its a melee who takes u on a 1on1..its always better for him to be a supporter in ganks and clashes and be a valuable ally, rather than a tanker then get owned by slowers,stunners and finished by nukers..if ur not a pro ull surely suck..

sadly it didn't have as many pictures and no screenies. People can get a bit bored with reading too much. Can u have the end bit of the last strat back i liked that a lot. bottle is not that useful as u might think. U need to spam so u need more regen than a bottle. bottle is more for people who need more heavy nukes lik tiny and other people. Also u can get other items rather than SnY coz i would rather get orchid rather than some chase item. Anyways nice 1 it's ok but it's just different. XD.

I get bottle because early game i dont use firestorm till level 5.

I will agree that KAKEE's is more practical. But guinsoos is mega powerful. Try it.

I disagree with this build.

One of the Pit lords standing out point is the fact that he can farm like crazy. With your build, after early game you would have a bottle as a mana regen, no boot, and imolation to help kill creeps.

1.You cannot lane switch fast enough (not to mention this means you cannot go to help your ally fast) this means your farming will be considerably slow

2. your mana pool is not taht high, and you have to go back to fountain, or check rune very often to refill your bott

bottle, which in pro games other team will be doing too so very risky. (Also you have no boot to help you move fast...)

remember your ult cool down is 3 minute, way too long (at lvl 1)

it is much better to try to get boot of travel and arcane in early game stage, with few tango(and if you can finish perserve as well) It will allow you to farm faster (cast fire storm and expulsion on creep wave to farm) And help your enemy better since you can switch lane fast

Also one more comment about you not using fire storm till level 5....

you should at least use it once in lvl 1 and once in lvl 3 to harass hero, and kill some creep. (You cast when creep half health) cause your natural regen alone will make your mana full by lvl 5.
